Infusions & Injections

Medication
Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. Used in conjunction with diet and exercise, Semaglutide helps patients stick to a reduced-calorie diet, enhancing the weight-loss process. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Semaglutide injection in 2014 for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight.

Tirzepatide is a novel dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide / glucagon-like peptide-1 (GIP/GLP-1) receptor agonist that activates the body’s natural incretin hormones to decrease food intake and modulate fat utilization. Although it is only approved for diabetes management, Tirzepatide is used off-label in adults who have one of the following: obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 or greater) overweight (BMI of 27 or greater) and at least one health condition related to weight, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea many providers
Tesofensine is a novel weight loss medication that acts on neurotransmitters in the brain to suppress appetite and increase metabolism. It enhances the levels of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin, crucial neurotransmitters responsible for regulating hunger, satiety, and mood. By influencing these neurotransmitters, tesofensine helps individuals achieve a caloric deficit, resulting in weight loss.

Sympathomimetics are FDA-approved for short-term weight loss when other therapies have not worked or cannot be tolerated. Sympathomimetic drug works by decreasing appetite and increase energy expenditure. Changes to diet and exercises are recommended with this medication.
